The Road , is the debut, full-length studio album by American Staind frontman Aaron Lewis. His second country music try, information technology was released by Equalizer Records on Nov thirteen, 2012.[3]

Content [edit]

The song "Grandad'south Gun" was previously recorded past Rhett Akins on the 2010 album Michael Waddell's Bone Collector: The Brotherhood Album. Information technology was also recorded past Blake Shelton on his 2013 anthology, Based on a True Story.... The iTunes deluxe edition of the album features five live bonus tracks. It includes a comprehend of the song "What Hurts the Most", which was previously recorded past Marking Wills and Rascal Flatts. 2 more songs, "Roughshod Circles" and "Country Boy", originally appeared on Lewis' 2011 EP, Town Line.

The album debuted on Billboard's Summit Land Albums chart at No. vii, selling 21,000 copies.[4] The album has sold 220,000 copies in the United States as of Baronial 2016.[five]

Reception [edit]

Upon its release, The Road received generally mixed to positive reviews from almost music critics. Rick Florino with Artistdirect rated the anthology 5 out of five stars. He praised Lewis' functioning, saying "he'due south a brilliant storyteller and brilliant lyricist."[vi] Daryl Addison of Great American Country was positive in saying, "on The Road, Aaron creates a work that honors country tradition while injecting his own soul and feel."[7] Dan MacIntosh of Roughstock.com rated the album 4 stars, saying, "that it sounds similar an honest to goodness country anthology, start to end" and that "The Road is positive proof that Aaron Lewis has the musical appurtenances and can nearly certainly deliver."[8] NoizeNews" rated the anthology a ix out of 10 stating, "The Route is a simple anthology with strong lyrics and instrumentation that highlight the dazzler of Aaron Lewis' vocalisation."[9]

Others were more than disquisitional of Lewis' efforts. Alex Beebe with sputnikmusic rated the album "poor" with a 1 out of five rating. He stated, "Aaron Lewis has created a possible cure for insomnia more than than he has an enjoyable album."[ten] Gary Suarez of PopMatters gave an boilerplate rating of 4 out of 10 rating stating, "Lewis shifts effortlessly from Staind's emotive construction rock to sincere country on his full-length solo debut The Road.[xi] Stephen Thomas Erlewine with AllMusic rated the album 2 out of five stars. Erlewine was critical in proverb, "his music doesn't have much color; information technology'south past-the-numbers blood-red state land, hit all of its marks and making no lasting impression."[12]
